a
collaboration in progress...
UnLanguage is a
collaboration between Scott Gibbons
(Lilith/Orbitronik), BINDA23, and Datawhore (aka
Jeremy S Gluck of the Spiritech Virtual
Foundation). A compilation album featuring the
above artists; renowned UK visionary artist and
musician Dave A Stewart (ex-Eurythmics)
processing material by Jeremy S Gluck;
Spiritech's musical aspect The Little
Doctors;Potentia recording artists ZONE; UK artist and
musician Helen Zachary; and others, is planned,
to be followed by a full-length CD from Gibbons,
BINDA23 Plus Datawhore that further explores the
themes of Unlanguage. The conception of
Unlanguage lies in an e-mail Datawhore received
late in 98 offering a copy of the Orbitronik CD.
Having received and enjoyed the CD, on intuition
and impulse Datawhore invited Scott Gibbons to
collaborate with him on the cutup texts he was
developing using Random Text Lab and other
computer-mediated text manipulation programs. In
January of 1999 Datawhore was contacted by and
began a collaboration with BINDA23, and he
invited to contribute to the project underway
with Scott. Christened "UnLanguage"
during an online chat, this material is an
attempt to explore words, the ends of words and
what lies beyond the end of what can be done with
words. Dave Stewart's involvement stems from
contact made early this year by Jeremy S Gluck -
who met Stewart in the late 70s when both were
pursuing their fledgling musical careers.
Intrigued by Gluck's use of computer-mediated cut
up, Stewart - whose talent, vision, recording,
production work, fame and fortune are legend -
accepted an invitation to process texts and
soundscape same, resulting in his decision to
contribute to the project. Taking randomly
generated text strings, processing them radically
and then re-integrating the results at a point
far from that of their origin, Unlanguage aspires
to create a sense of future language, and indeed
of future consciousness. Complementary works,
Surrendered To My Function, and The Benefactor,
are also in production.
